Legacy

Legacy was commissioned by a mother and father as gifts for their two sons. The pieces were designed as both functional furniture and sculptural forms that stimulate contemplation on the meaning of legacy. Design elements also point to the spiritual and aesthetic values of their parents and their love of their sons as well as the unique values, aspirations, personality, talents, favorites, and life experiences of each son. I interviewed the four family members to develop the design vision and vocabulary. The pieces were made from one black cherry tree harvested in central Pennsylvania.
